Day of the Shift

What to expect

Before the Shift

  • Shifts can be cancelled without penalty up to 48 hours before the shift's start time.  If you choose to cancel a shift within 48 hours of start time, a base fee equivalent to a 3 hours * (wages + Ideal platform fees) will be charged for each worker scheduled. 
  • Users are able to cancel a shift via the Ideal portal up to 24 hours before shift start. If you would like to cancel a shift within 24 hours of its start time, please contact customersupport@ideal.com with the shift location, job, date(s), and shift start and end time(s). 
  • Workers have been instructed to arrive 10 minutes early and to check in with the shift's listed point of contact at the start and end of shifts to go over instructions and get feedback on their performance.
  • Ideal Workers are considered a “No Show” when they are more than an hour late to their shift and the shift wasn’t cancelled. If this happens, Ideal will cancel the shift and you will not be charged a cancellation fee.

During the Shift 

  • Workers must use the Ideal mobile app to clock in, clock out and attest they received their meal and rest breaks. 
  • It is required to give Ideal workers a 15-minute paid rest break for every 4 hours worked. They will not need to clock out for rest breaks. 
  • Workers are required to clock out any time they leave the work site for any reason other than assigned work duties.
  • If something happens during the shift (an accident, law violation, injury, complaint) please contact Ideal customersupport@ideal.com immediately, so we can proactively support and action.
  • If an Ideal worker is has already arrived at your location and clocked in for a shift when it's cancelled, a cancellation fee equal to the shifts scheduled hours *  (wages + Ideal platform fees) will be charged.
  • If an Ideal worker has already arrived at your location and clocked in for a shift, that shift can be shortened up to 1 hour without penalty. Wages + Ideal platform fees will be charged for the shift's scheduled hours less 1 hour even if Ideal workers clock out earlier.

After the Shift

  • If an Ideal worker has agreed to stay longer than the shift's scheduled end time, you will be able to review, approve or dispute their timesheet immediately after they clock out. 
  • Please rate our workers and provide qualitative feedback in the commentary boxes when approving time. This information will be essential to helping the Ideal community grow with workers who reflect our values. 
  • Please be sure to review, approve or dispute timesheets within 48 hours of shift end times.  After 48 hours any undisputed timesheets in the "Ready for Review" tab will be auto-approved. Please see our quick start guide on reviewing, approving and disputing Ideal worker timesheets here.
