Meal Periods and Rest Breaks

Policy Overview
Ideal complies with all legal requirements regarding meal periods and rest breaks. This Policy outlines how workers should take meal periods and rest breaks during their shifts.

Meal Breaks.

Workers are expected to take one paid rest break of up to 15 minutes for every four hours worked during a shift.

All workers are expected to take their full meal break. Meal breaks cannot be skipped and cannot be used to arrive late, leave early, or used for any purpose other than taking a break.

Timing should be coordinated with the Client supervisor at the worksite. Ideal expects that you will be fully relieved from duty during your meal periods. Meal periods where you are relieved from duty will not count as hours worked. If you need to perform any kind of work (e.g., answering calls on your phone), you may be entitled to compensation for that time.

All workers are responsible for ensuring they are taking all meal periods that are required under this policy. You must clock out for your designated mealtimes and clock in prior to resuming work after your meal period.

Rest Breaks
Workers are expected to take one paid 15-minute rest break for every four hours worked during a shift. Timing should be coordinated with the Client supervisor at the worksite. Rest breaks are paid and will constitute hours worked. Depending on the duration of your shift. You are not expected to clock in or out for any rest breaks, however you will be required to attest that they were taken.

Worker Time-Sheet Attestations
At the end of every shift workers will attest that the hours recorded in the Ideal app are accurate and fully represent all hours worked. Workers will also attest that they received a 15 minute rest break for every 4 hours worked and a 30 minutes unpaid meal break for any shift over 6 hours. If your hours are not correct you can indicate this on the Ideal timesheet attestation page at the end of your shift.
